Also, we’re going to Mesa Verde National Park.
But....yesterday we went to Monument Valley. We have to drive through Mexican Hat, UT to get there.
(This is why they call it Mexican Hat, UT)
(The Mexican Hat, do you see it?)
While driving along the way, Mr Charley heard me reading the sign for Goosenecks State Park (I love the names of these places). He remembered reading something about it, so we took a beeline over there, since it wasn’t too far. What a great side trip! It was well worth the10 miles and $5 entrance fee.
(The road along the way)
The “Goosenecks” are a view of the San Juan River meandering through the canyons. This is a pic of the brochure.
Here’s some of my pics:

It was pretty cool. Since it’s a State Park, you can actually camp there along the rim! With the winds here, I wouldn't, but you can drive around it (bumpy, dirt road and no railings) so we didn’t. Wouldn’t have seen anything more than what we saw anyway. Speaking of bumpy, dirt roads, once we got to Monument Valley, we drove the 17 mile loop around and through it. But first, here’s pics along the way to it:

(Approaching the bridge over the San Juan River)

(Would you believe there were peopl in the middle of the road getting a “selfie” 🤦🏻♀️) Mr C said this road is called “Highway to Heaven”, if those foolsin the road aren’t careful they’ll get there sooner than they think. 🤷🏻♀️

Here’s some pics from inside Monument Valley:

(I see a Face, do you?)

(They call this 3 sisters)

(Can you picture John Wayne riding through the valley? He did !)

(Sitting way up top is a couple of big rocks)

(They call this the Mitten)

(I love the colors and textures)
It was a pretty cool ride, but bumpy. God Bless those folks riding in the open tour trucks. And, God Bless the Navajo Nation for living out here andallowing everyone to meander through their land. At $20 a pop, it’s not as much as the casinos, but I’m sure it helps.
We made our way back to the Cadillac Ranch for naptime.

Mr C fixed a nice “breakfast” dinner and The Lord let me see another beautiful sunset.
Hopefully, Durango will have better Cell & WiFi Service.
Pray for Texas & the floods. And, I still have a couple of unspoken requests, as I’m sure many of us do. Everybody is going through something, or knows somebody who is.
Have a good one everybody, we’re sure trying to.
