It’s near time for Mr Charley’s eye shot, so we found a retina Dr in Portland that has an office in Vancouver WA, so there you go, there is a method to our madness!
Finding a camp site has been a real challenge this trip, so when we found the Columbia Riverfront RV Park could take us for the week, we jumped on it! It’s located right on the Columbia River, so it should be nice!

One thing about the WA/OR area that I’ve noticed is that blackberries grow EVERYWHERE! Just riding down the road, you see bushes along the roadway just bursting with berries!
We went to Camping World yesterday and when Mr C went in, I took the girls for a walk. The tree line along the side of the parking lot has LOADS of blackberry bushes! So..........I just HAD to pick some!
I turned these:
Into this:
Mr Charley even helped me pick some, since there we so many; and he went up to the store & got vanilla ice cream.
Man was it good (even if I do say so myself) ☺️
I can’t believe there aren’t people along the roadsides picking them! We sure would be in the South!
The other thing that’s different in OR is they have gas station attendants that pumpyour gas. So, I had to Google that, because I didn’t know if we were-supposed to tip them or not.
This is what I found out:
1. Oregon and New Jersey are the only two states that ban self-service gas stations. But thanks to a new law that went into effect on January 1, customers can now pump their own gas in Oregon, though only at stand-alone gas Stations in counties with fewer than 40,000 residents.
2. Tipping is customary only if there are both full-serve and self-serve options at the station and the fuel is priced the same at both. These conditions aren't frequently met, so no tipping required.
3. The average salary for a Gas Station Attendant is $11.15 per hour in Oregon, which is 6% above the national average.
So, there ya go! All they do is pump gas! No cleaning the windshield, checking your oil or tires, they just pump your gas. So, we didn’t tip them. ๐คท๐ป♀️
Let me tell you, if I was doing that I would be smiling as you pull in, clean your windshield & telling you to have a good day when you leave. I bet I’ll get some tips ๐๐
Can you believe when we were in Walmart I heard Mr C on the other aisle say “Go Tigers” to some guy! The man saw his hat & commented on Clemson. Geez ๐คฆ๐ป♀️ even in Oregon!
Last thing before I go, the weather has been pretty nice. It starts out “chilly” but by afternoon Mr C can actually wear a short sleeve TShirt & shorts, so you know it got warm!
Oh! One more thing! Yesterday when we were driving, we had to stop for aschool bus & all the moms were there with cameras & tears in their eyes as they sent their little ones to school, probably K5 or first grade. It was so sweet ๐.
My great granddaughter starts K5 this year. My youngest granddaughter starts middle school & my grandson starts college! I love & miss my babies ๐ฅ.
Have a good one everybody, we’re sure trying to
