09/06/2019 Day 89 Las Vegas NV

I can’t believe I forgot to do this blog again! 🀦🏻‍♀️ (now you know why I say I have commitment issues 🀷🏻‍♀️).

We did go to the Hoover Dam yesterday.
Although we went there our last trip out here, it gave us something to do. Would you believe this was Mr Charley’s 4th (or 5th) time!

I stole this “nice, professional” pic so you can see how cool it really looks:

It’s pretty impressive when you consider the time it was built. It was approved to be built back in 1929 (before the stock market crash), but construction didn’t begin until 1931. After five years, millions of dollars and over a hundred lives lost, construction was completed. The project was successful in accomplishing what it was initially built for. It protects southern California and Arizona from the disastrous floods of the Colorado River.  And, it provides water to irrigate farm fields. It was also the creation of hydroelectric power in Nevada. There’s some pretty interesting facts about all the politics behind it, so you might want to Google it sometime.
(Love my Gypsy Guide app ☺️)

Here’s some of my pics:

We’re blessed to live in such a beautiful and innovative country. It amazes me what my parents generation accomplished and survived.
Thank You, Lord for keeping Hurricane Dorian from destroying our US coastlines. Let’s pray for the Bahamas and those responders in the coming days and weeks as they help with the cleanup.

Have a good one everybody, we’re sure trying to.
