We drove Hwy 20/26 West, which is the route we took on our previous trip out here. With the Bighorn Mountains in the far distance, and the deer and pronghorn abounding in the grassy fields (along with cows & horses) it’s one of the most beautiful drives we’ve made. And, with a good cell signal, I knew I could Google some of those hidden treasures I keep seeing in the posted signs. I remember seeing Hell’s Half Acre sign before wondering what it was, by the looks of the sign, I thought it was an old abandoned restaurant. Well, thanks to Google (and my enquiring mind) look!
This is the sign I saw:
Here’s what Google has :
Then we pass a small sign pointing to Castle Garden, so I Google that. Remember, we’re driving down the highway pulling a 39ft 5th wheel & all I’m seeing is grasslands with deer & pronghorn along the way.
This is what I see:
This is what Google is telling me awaits ifwe would’ve turned left and gone 30 miles down that long unpaved road:
Castle Garden is a Petroglyph Site!
Now, if we weren’t traveling today, these 2 places alone would’ve been an awesome road trip! On we go, towards Cody, notic the changing colors of the grass & Mountains
I have lots more to post, but the blog limits me. I’ll post more later.
In the meantime we arrived in Cody safe & sound, for that we are very thankful.
Have a good one everybody, we’re sure trying to
