Yesterday we drove Chief Joseph Highway and Beartooth Highway up through Beartooth Pass! What a ride!
First, Chief Joseph Highway is a beautifulscenic drive
It’s a beautiful drive. We also took a long dirt road ride up Sunlight Dr in the Sunlight Basin. There are some awesome log homes & cabins back there. I think it’s oneof the many hunting lodges we’ve seen.
We made it to the end (it’s about 50 miles) and went in to Cooke City, MT.
Rather than continue into MT and Yellowstone, we turned back towards Beartooth. What a change of scenery! We went from vast green valleys and slow meandering rivers & streams to cold, dark skies, snow covered mountains and frozen lakes! We climbed up to over 10,800 feet and watched as the temp dropped more than20 degrees. Brrrrrrr! Glad we were in the truck and not on the Harley!
Here’s some pics
(Love my altimeter app)
Temp actually droooed to 35 before we finished.
We made it back down to Red Lodge, MT and had a picnic next to the river with blue skies and temp in upper 50s.
It was a great ride! We made our way back to the campground and took a nice long nap!
Have a good one everybody, we’re sure trying to.
