But first, this morning Mr Charley will take Big Red to the Ford dealership and hopefully get the tailgate fixed.
Yesterday we took a drive to Red Rock Canyon. We went there last time we were here, but Mr Charley didn’t remember. I did, because I remembered the Tortoise crossing signs.
Here, in the middle of the Mojave Desert, and you have to watch for a big tortoise! We didn’t see any crossing, but I may have seen one out there where there was a bunch of rocks around a cactus bush. By the time my mind computed the design on “the rock”, we already passed it.
This visit was more enjoyable since we had the Gypsy Guide. He gives some good insight as we drive past things.
Did you know the “red” in the sandstone is due to the presence of iron oxide (rust)? Exposure to the elements caused iron minerals to oxidize or “rust,” resulting in red, orange, and brown-colored rocks.
Check it out:
Look at the face in this one!
And the lone trees in this one :
Yeah, I’m crazy, but that’s OK. I’m always looking for those little hidden treasures the Lord put out there in all His wonder.
Check out the lines in this rock! Wouldn't that make a beautiful countertop? Or tile floor?
It was a nice ride. The girls enjoyed it, too.
I must be rubbing off on Mr Charley, because he’s noticing sunsets! He even took a few pics of it ☺️
So here’s a few of mine:

We’re blessed. Thank You, Lord. Continued prayers for FL, GA, & SC due to the oncoming hurricane. It looks like it’s dissipated to Category 3 (thank God) but that doesn’t diminish the danger of wind and rising water. Please be safe out there.
Have a good one everybody, we’re sure trying to.
