According to Google:
Highway 101—a twisty, mostly two-lane road that wends its way from the state capital to Washington’s western shores—is a picturesque backdrop for an epic road-trip experience. Buckle up for a highway adventure through the Olympic Peninsula and along the coast.
And, boy were they right! It was a nice drive, but ......pulling a 38 ft 5th wheel on the back made it a bit more interesting. They do have lots of pullouts, so we could pull over various places to let the traffic go by (and, to stop for a roadside picnic).
We ended up across from Oak Harbor (where we just left). It’s a pretty little town here, but we’re not on the water. We border the Olympic Mountain Range, though, so the view is nice, the campground is clean and the lavender fields are in bloom!
Today we’ll drive to Port Angeles and go to Olympic National Park. I’d love to get a nice pic of a lavender field (Igot a quick shot driving in), and it would be nice to find some good fresh seafood. We’ll be here for 2 more nights before we move on down to OR.
So, hang on & enjoy the ride!
Here’s some pics from yesterday’s drive
Here’s a shot of the Atlas, so you can see where we’re heading. Top right shows Oak Harbor across the way, Sequim is where we landed. (We drove, didn’t take the ferry across) also, note the Olympic Mountain Range.
Mountains up ahead
I wish they’d read these signs & cross !
We’re here!
Here’s the view outside this morning
Have a good one everybody, we’re sure trying to.
