08/10/2019 Day 62 Woodland WA

The hardest part of being on “this side of the world” isn’t the 3 hour time change, it’s the lack of sunshine. Being a “morning person”, it’s really hard to wake up to a cloudy, foggy, cold day. I’m used to getting up early & watching the sun rise! My achy old body NEEDS warmth and energy that only comes from the sun!
Enough whining🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m blessed to be here and thankful to be able to see and do.

So yesterday we took a drive to Mt St. Helen’s. It’s not far from here, so we loaded up the girls and took a ride. As I watched out the window I marveled at all the wild blackberry bushes along the way. I mean there are MILLIONS of berries just waiting for someone to pick them! I guess WA/OR doesn’t have the wildlife that eats them. When I looked up, I saw a deer on the side of the road that almost jumped in front of us! Thank goodness Mr Charley’s reflexes are sharp, he braked and luckily the doe jumped back over the rail & went back in the woods. (I would hate for all that good meat to go to waste 🤷🏻‍♀️)

We continued on and made it to the Visitor Center, and it was closed!

As we traveled on up the road, the fog was so thick we could hardly see ahead of us.

Then, it would clear and all you can see is trees and a glimpse of the valley.
(WA is full of trees!)

And then more fog

We got as far as we could go, but honestly couldn’t see anything.
So, I Googled some images so we can all  see what we didn’t get to see

 (You’re Welcome ☺️)

On the way back down, we were lucky enough to see a herd of Deer down in the valley below, so Mr C pulled over & got some pics for me

I saw all these signs on the way & wondered where they were 🤷🏻‍♀️

Later that afternoon it was a beautiful, sunny afternoon, so we sat outside and enjoyed the view.

I was excited to finally see a “sunset”. Then, after dinner I looked out and almost cried! Look!

And when I thought that was it, I looked out later and gasped! Look!

I guess the Lord was happy we didn’t hit that “Bambi” on the side of the road, so He showed us a herd of them. And, I guess He knew I needed a good sunset, since I haven’t seen a good sunrise. ☺️

Today is another cloudy, gloomy, cold morning, so who knows how it’ll be. 🤷🏻‍♀️
I’m just thankful I woke up, and able to walk & breathe, and see those hidden treasures out there.

Have a good one everybody, we’re sure trying to.
