The drive from Cody to Yellowstone East Entrance is 80+ miles, then driving around the geyser loop & back to Cody was well over a 300 mile day trip. Needless to say, we were tired when we got back, but the trip was well worth it!
Heading out of Cody, we pass the Cody Stampede grounds (we have tickets to go!!)
Then through the tunnel to the Bill Cody dam
Beautiful mountain drive heading to Yellowstone
Bambi crossed the street in front of us
We got in to Yellowstone and of course we see bison. (Even with the road construction going on)
We also saw a bear! (Rare opportunity)
I think I saw a herd of elk further in the park, but they were too far away to get a good pic. Same with the moose.
The first time we came to Yellowstone I had downloaded the Gypsy Guide app. It is an app that tracks through GPS & givesaudio tour guide of the sights you are coming up on. If you’re on Facebook, I uploaded some videos I took while listening to “our guide”.
Here’s some pics of some of the smaller geysers and hot springs we passed.
We went to Old Faithful, but since we’ve been a few times before we didn’t wait for eruption. Instead, we went through some of the shops. Afterwards, we found a place next to the river & had our picnic lunch we packed. The girls loved rolling around in the grass.
We continued on around the loop and headed back to Cody. All in all we calculated we drove over 300 miles, which is a really long day trip! The weather was beautiful, traffic wasn’t as bad as we thought it would be and the Gypsy Guide kept us entertained as we made our way through Yellowstone.
Got back home early enough to take a nap before grilling steaks. Life is good, we are blessed and very thankful to be able todo this.
Have a good one everybody, we’re sure trying to.
