It’s Thursday and we’re leaving Rio Ranch, NM and heading to Amarillo, TX.

We decided to leave early (like REAL EARLY!) to avoid the Albuquerque rush hour traffic. So, we left a little after 5:00 a.m. (mountain time). Amarillo is about 300 miles, so we got our “to go” coffee cups and a carafe for our “2nd cup” and hit the road. Goodbye to the last full moon in NM:
And Good Morning to another sunrise:
The following pics do not do justice to the sun rising over the horizon as we leave NM
But these are my favorite: (except for the snake warning!)

I like this “leaving NM” sign:
And of course someone’s taking a selfie at the welcome to TX sign:
We made it to Amarillo after stopping for a “picnic” lunch first. I looked for snakes before we sat down for lunch and sure enough there was a dead snake on the slab where our table was! I didn’t get a pic, and thank God it wasn’t a rattlesnake, but it was a snake! And, thank God it was dead! (I DON’T DO SNAKES!!!, but I’ll kill a roach in a heartbeat! I was raised in Miami! LOL)
But…on the way here, there was a truck hauling Catfish! I’ve never seen such a thing & it really surprised me! I never thought about people raising catfish and shipping it to places. But, then… think about Cracker Barrel and their catfish. Hmmmm, it never crossed my mind. God Bless our Truckers!
Anyway, we got here in by 12:30 (TX is in Central Time) so, we gained an hour. (Now we’re only 1 hour behind east coast). Thankful our FL, SC loved ones are safe from Hurricane Idalia !
Hopefully, I’ll get Mr Charley to drive us to some cool Amarillo sights.
Have a good one everybody.
