It’s Saturday in KY! The sun is finally shining and we might go to the Lexington Horse Park today.
I forgot to post this sign I saw on the drive here.
Makes you wonder how it got its name. LOL!
Yesterday, we took a drive! A LONG drive to Churchill Downs!
And…Mr Charley said I ain’t worth a damn as a navigator!! I put the address to Kentucky Derby museum (704 Central Ave , Louisville) so when it popped up in the navigation I hit the button. Well there’s also a 704 Central Ave in Lexington, which is where we initially went. So, we took a little detour! (I was wondering how we got there so quick! We had another hour and a half to go!)
The Kentucky Derby Museum was open (and so was the gift shop) but the rest is under construction for renovations! Ugh!
So here’s some pics of what we did see:
This is the picture of renovations being made
These are pics from inside the gift shop (you can go to the website to see some of these prices!)
Oh, the hats!
Check out this necklace!
I think I’m taking “going to the Kentucky Derby” off my bucket list. Driving through Louisville just to get there was another eye opener to inner city life. We didn’t see a lot of homelessness (thank God), but the houses around the area don’t portray the “ritzy” lifestyle of “Churchill Downs”. I wondered why they would build this in the middle of low rent residential housing, so here’s a glimpse of my “research”.
I can’t imagine living across the street from the Derby and not having enough yard to even park your own car. Can you imagine the traffic! Oh well, enough of that.
After that we went by the Louisville Slugger Museum. We did not go in, we just drove by (I Googled it and they don’t even make them there anymore!)
See the BAT!
Along the way we passed the riverboat!
And, the Louisville Slugger ball field
And I’ll leave you with this pic of the car in front of us in the McDonalds drive thru
Have a good one everybody.
