It’s Monday and we’re leaving Durango, CO heading to Rio Ranch, NM

We’ve laid low, rested up and we’re ready to move on, so today we’ll drive to Rio Rancho, NM as we make our way down to TX.
We’re monitoring the weather as hurricane season begins. Our prayers are for family and friends in FL as storms move in.
We safely landed in NM. I’m pleasantly surprised with the campground. Here’s our view:
The drive here was boring! US 550 is a long, long ride! Here’s some pics:
One thing that amazes me out here is the vast areas that look like barren desert, but truth be told it is so vast there is lots of ranches, cattle and sheep farms out there, you just can’t see them from the road! (Mr C watches a lot of cattle ranching shows on YouTube TV) We also drove “through” numerous Native American reservations.
Did you know “The Salmon Ruins” in Bloomfield, NM is an ancient Chacoan and Pueblo site. Did you know “Fort Defiance “ is a census-designated place in Apache County, Arizona, United States. It is also located within the Navajo Nation near the AZ/NM border. Did you know: Dzilth-Na-O-Dith-Hle is one of the most sacred places on the Navajo Nation. Named after the lone mesa Navajos know as Dzilth-Na-O-Dith-Hle ("Revolving Mountain"). Did you know Nageezi, NM, is home to the Chaco Culture National Historical Park?
Did you know Dulce, NM is almost entirely Native American. It is the largest community and tribal headquarters of the Jicarilla Apache Reservation. I could go on, thanks to Google, but instead, I’ll share a few more pics of our drive:
When we landed and got set up, the shooting at UNC Chapel Hill was going on. I didn’t even realize there was a shooting in Jacksonville over the weekend! Lord, please hear our prayers! Be kind, we’re all going through something, some worse than others.
I’ll leave you with this:
Have a good one everybody.

A phenomenal assembly of pueblos in New Mexico is the most complete example of ancient ruins north of the border in the Chaco Canyon. (I didn’t know there were National Historical Parks!)
