It’s Thursday and we’re in Elkhart, IN!
(The RV building capital of the USA!) There’s 100% chance of rain and thunderstorms coming our way.
But yesterday was pretty nice! On our way to Grand Design we crossed the state line into Michigan! Who knew we were that close? Did you know there’s a Sturgis, MI?
We drove over to Middlebury, IN to the Grand Design RV Company.

Eric was a great “tour guide”. He was very knowledgeable, took his time answering questions, taking suggestions and patiently explaining processes and systems. We learned a lot, but most important we got his card with his number and email!!
Mr Charley has been very happy with his Solitude, and after this tour he definitely made the right choice. We didn’t know Winnebago bought Grand Design, but in the RV world it doesn’t surprise me. As long as they keep producing good, quality products we’ll all be the better for it.
And, as we are in Amish country, the integrity of the workers definitely shows in the quality of the product.
After the two hour tour, we ate a wonderful meal at a wonderful Amish restaurant with Dave and Christine. Both the food and the company was great! Das Dutchman Essenhaus was Amish cooking at its best. A wide selection of fresh Salad Bar fixings (and their wonderful Sweet n Sour dressing)! The hot foods bar held all those wonderful side dishes we all love. It was a great end to a great day.
By the time we got back, “the girls” were ready for a walk and their “happy hour” treat. Mr Charley remembers when he and Sherry came here years ago. Same campground and they went to the “RV & MH Museum” up there road. I don’t think we’ll make it there this trip, but you never know. Mr Charley has “the gift” of changing his mind. LOL! We head to St Ignace, MI tomorrow so today will be a chill out day.
Have a good one everybody.
