It’s Wednesday and we’re in Durango, CO!

Yesterday was a pretty easy ride from Moab to Durango, about 175 miles so we took our time and made a few stops along the way. When we drove to Alaska years ago, we learned about “double ended turnouts” along the way. These large “turnouts” are like “little rest stops” (without the bathroom). When your driving highways vs interstates they are lifesavers. Luckily, both Utah and Colorado highways have them. So here’s some pics along the way;
I love riding the highways because you get to go through small towns, places I’ve never heard of. And, you get to see ranches and farms, fields of whatever growing; cows, horses, goats and sheep grazing in the fields.
Did you know there’s a town called Dove Creek in CO? According to Google, “Dove Creek is a statutory town that is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Dolores County, Colorado, United States. The town population was 635 at the 2020 United States Census. The community takes its name from the nearby Dove Creek. Dove Creek is the self-proclaimed Pinto Bean Capital of the World.” The self proclaimed “Pinto Bean Capital of the World!” I was wondering what was growing out there. Did you know there’s a town called Cahone, Colorado and was named after a nearby canyon by the town's very first postmaster. And, close to the small town of Cahone, is Canyons of the Ancients National Monument. This monument contains the highest known archaeological site density in the nation and was inhabited by the Northern Ancestral Puebloan culture.Check out these places we passed!

Couple more interesting things along the way

And we drove along the San Juan Scenic Byway, passing by the Mesa Verde National Park. (We’ve been there, but we may do it again, who knows?)
Mr C has a toothache that’s been bugging him awhile, so we found a dentist here that can take him in. Hopefully, he can get it fixed so he can eat again. Lord knows he doesn’t need to lose anymore weight! So I’ll leave you with this:

Have a good one everybody.
