08/17/2023 - Day 63 Grand Junction, CO Canyon View RV Resort

It’s Thursday and we’re in Grand Junction, CO And we’re not doing a thing today!   https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1UKzzdRRmPqizo9O1RZ67kJ70MMBu9tVV  It’s a dry hot here, and there is a slight breeze making it “tolerable” to sit outside early morning and late afternoon. Both a/c’s are running and the shades are pulled, so we’re keeping it “comfortable” inside.  https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1lKWhvzxkhGQqcqGQTsp1dU9nB_0wBPl0  And, since we’re leaving tomorrow for Moab, UT. I thought I’d post some more CO stuff. https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1q1bnO-Z2gmsGzvBbtOT6Io5SgssUWTe5
I love the fact that in Colorado, when they post a “city limit” sign, they don’t show population they show elevation. LOL!
Here’s a few pics I took:   https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1dgj2M5urLMJirb1ovxlYoCqk6mgbzuGZ   https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1N4_ymghcBur0fBoQT1-iYSB8EVMhbqZE  https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1XTGu8zvoa8OxlbNC8t5Y3XfL8eRvsknb I like the “No name” sign, so I had to Google it:  “ There are several stories, but the most widely accepted one is that the state sent out questionnaires about the town's name to the villagers. The majority of inhabitants wrote “No Name” under the section labeled Name of Town”.  Isn’t that funny?!?    There’s also a town called Rifle, but I didn’t get a picture. But I did Google it!
Why is Rifle Colorado called Rifle? “ The city of Rifle gets its name from a local story, that a trapper had once left his rifle along a creek in the region; from then on, the city has been known as Rifle. Founded by Abram Maxfield in 1882, Rifle was officially incorporated into the state in 1905”.
And….the town of Parachute!   Why is Parachute Colorado named Parachute? “ Etymology. The town's name comes from Parachute Creek which runs through the township, before it merges with the Colorado River. The Ute people originally called the creek Pahchouc (meaning twins), with early settlers mispronouncing the word as parachute”.
I thought this was interesting when we stopped at a Rest Area in Parachute:

(It’s a pretty good story if you magnify it)
And look at this! God’s double promise! I guess it’ll be cooling off soon !

Have a good one everybody.
