Dams and Falls

After visiting the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, we found out there is a string of Dams & Falls within less than a 20 mile radius around Great Falls, MT; so we took a ride. After seeing the extent of the dams & falls I get a glimpse of the massive undertaking Lewis & Clark took on their expedition. It reminds me of the childhood game “going on a bear hunt”, when you can’t go over it , and you can’t go under it , you go around it. And they had to do all of those  things at some point in their journey.
From upstream to downstream, the five falls are located along a 10 mile segment of the Missouri River. Black Eagle Falls,(26ft)  Colter Falls(6ft)  (which is underwater), Rainbow Falls(44ft), Crooked Falls(19ft)  (aka Horseshoe Falls) and the Great Falls(87ft).
Man has made a series of dams for hydroelectric power, which of course changes the landscape from what Lewis & Clark saw, but the sights are still spectacular.

Here’s some pics of the long winding road to get to the Falls & Dams, along with some of the wildlife we were lucky enough to see:

I don't think I've ever seen 3 bucks together like this

see how rapid this water runs, I love to fish but I wouldn’t get in the middle of that!

She was just hanging out along the way, and these 2 were further up the road

And further down the road to more Dams & Falls

I hope you’re able to take the time to read some of the signs, they really help you to understand more than I can describe.
Tomorrow we leave, heading to Fort Harrison in Helena, MT.
Have a good one everybody, we’re sure trying to.

RV Riding is getting to see a lot of what those history teachers were trying to tell you about
