Whew!

A couple of years ago, Mr. Charley brought me on a 6 month Great Adventure across country. We spent a month in Custer, SD & saw more than I could ever imagine. We also flew some of the kids/grands to spend a week & we got to see it all again!

Well, today we went for a ride over to Custer to look around & then into Custer State Park.Since we get up so early, we left pretty early (like before 6:00 a.m.), in  hopes of seeing some awesome wildlife. We did see some deer &  pronghorn on our drive; and of course the buffalo, prairie dogs & wild turkeys in the park, but not as many as I thought. I was a little disappointed, but happy that it was not as crowded as last time. We also road Needles Highway & saw the awesome view. On the way back, we stopped & had our "lunch" at Sylvan Lake. We got back early enough for me to take advantage of the free laundry here on the Base. That's one of the best perks in staying at FamCamps.

Now, for the "Whew!"........ The wind here is ROUGH! It was 30-35 miles an hour in Mitchell (which is why we stayed an extra day); but here in Rapid City the weather channel claims its only 19, but that has to be wrong! Its about all you can do to walk from the truck inside without blowing you away! Its not "cold", but with that wind blowing it makes it feel that cold.

Since it seems to pick up speed as the day goes on, we're going to get everything done tonight & head out early in the morning. Hopefully, the ride to Sheridan, WY won't be too windy.

The retina Dr.in Bozeman, MT called to let us know they had a cancellation, so we're scheduled to arrive 2 days earlier, putting us there Sunday instead of Tuesday.

It sounds like some of our Loosey Goosey folks have already crossed into Canada, some are getting ready to, and some are already in Alaska. We'll get there when we get there is the best way to put it. Thank goodness Mr. Charley keeps up with the weather & between Facebook & RV forums, we're keeping up with the road conditions. Our original goal was to cross into Canada by the 15th, and hit Dawson Creek (Milepost 0) by the first of June, but who knows. That's the beauty of it all, we'll get there when we get there. Its a new Grand Adventure & we want to take our time & do what's right for us.

Looks like most of our orange streamers have blown off, but I'm sure the Loosey Goosey folks can see our Orange! I'll be sure to freshen it up before we cross over!

RV Riding is making your way once you know where to go
