We were so excited to finally be on the road yesterday! First stop, Granville TN. Crossed into NC and then TN. I had forgotten how pretty the mountains were in the springtime. We arrived at the campground relatively early pulled in & allowed the fella there to "guide" Mr Charley into the site. We got it as level as we could & as he was opening the slides I went out & looked "just to be sure" & Thank God I did ! We were fixing to whack into the pole! π€¦♀️ You'd think the man who owns the place would've known what to look at, especially since Mr Charley had told him π Well, needless to say, when we got it positioned right for the slides we couldn't level up very well. We didn't unhook since we were just staying 1 night, so we made do so we could get out of the rain. When it let up we took the girls for a little walk & I made us some soup & grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner. Then it started raining again & Mr Charley got a bad "uh oh" feeling when he remembered the fella here told him they got 2 inches of rain last week & the place flooded π² We were already sitting on a slick site & had no desire to get stuck, so we got out of there! As Paul Harvey says" now, for the rest of the story"
We made our way back to I40 towards Lebanon TN, by then the rain was pouring down hard which acknowledged Mr Charley's gut that we made the right decision to leave.
We found a Walmart to park in & would you believe by the time we pulled into the parking lot, there was a rainbow ! π Another one of those "Thank you, Lord" moments. ☺️
In all the years Mr Charley's had his 5th wheel, he's never boondocked! It's a lot different in a 5th wheel than it is in my Class C. We only opened the bedroom slide out, so we crawled over the counter into the living room to get the extra blankets & we all jumped up in the bed. The girls were happy to stretch out & rest, and Mr Charley kicked back for a little bit, but his mind didn't turn off. So, I fixed him a drink πππ₯. Well, he fixed himself a drink, which explains why it didn't knock him out because he probably just put a splash in ππ
I suggested we go into Walmart & see if they had an am/fm battery operated radio we could use instead of using up his cell power. Would you believe they didn't ! We checked electronics, sporting goods, clocks & lamps but none! When I said let's try travel section Mr Charley said "forget it, I'll use me phone !" So we headed back to the girls & settled in for the night. After realizing we crossed into Central Time Zone & lost an hour we had no problem going to sleep exhausted. I woke up to voices outside, saw how light it was & thought how wonderful it was to sleep thru the whole night! Checked my phone & it was 12:45 a.m. π© I slept less than 3 hours, but felt wide awake π I did get back to sleep on & off, but by 3:30 - 4:00 we were both awake & ready to hit the road.
Now on to Columbia, MO bypassing rush hour traffic & avoiding bad weather.
Stay tuned!
RV riding is a new adventure everyday ☺️
I believe your sound system in the living room works with your battery. Ours does. It has DVD, AM, and FM.
