I forgot to tell you!!

I was so determined to get the Banff blog post out, I forgot to tell you about our adventure yesterday morning as we were leaving Calgary! As always, we're up early (4:00-4:30)  no matter what time zone (uggh), so we were ready to go by 6 or so. Got everything done, Mr. Charley pushed the magic buttons to pull up the front jacks & it made a terrible "wratcheting" sound! Oh no! Thank God, we were still in the campground & still had Wifi, so I Googled it!  After trying everything he could think of, Mr Charley took out the motor & checked the gears to see if anything was messed up in there, but no teeth were broken & everything looked well greased. So we put it back together & looked up mobile RV techs. One thing about being in Canada is their time schedule. Most places don't open until 9:00! (We've been up half the day by then) by 8:30 we called a place & left a message. Now for  hurry up & wait mode. We were very happy when the fella called back & said he had someone coming out. By a little after 9, a young guy drove up, asked some questions, made a few suggestions that we had already done & made his diagnosis.
At first, we were kind of leery since he really didn't sound like he knew what he was talking about, but we were so wrong! He helped Mr. Charley hand crank those jacks so we could get it hooked on & drive over to the RV shop to have it fixed. He called the shop, told them what was wrong, checked to he sure they had the parts & let them know we were on the way! To top it off, he didn't even work for the RV tech place we had called ! That man was further away & not able to get here, so he called his friend at another RV place closer to the campground. Come to find out, Mike (the guy who came) was actually off that day, happened to have gone to the shop to borrow a truck & was in his way to help a friend move! He came by anyway, worked with us & helped to get us on the mend.
We got over to the RV place, they took it in, replaced the left jack leg, put it all together & we were out of there & on the road by 11:15!!!!!

Can you believe that ! In the US, it would take 6 weeks just to get in & another  1-3 months for the parts! Needless to say, we were so happy, we hut the road & landed here in Highcourt around 5:30. It's still light out & even though we were tired, it wasn't as bad as it could've been.

Canadians are some of the friendliest most helpful people! Everyone here has been so kind & have gone out of their way to help from helping Mr. Charley figure out the gas pumps to helping me convert money into Loonies for the washers. A Loonie is a $1 Canadian coin 😉👍

The US has a lot of catching up to do in the RV field. Any smart, young entrepreneur would make a wise choice getting into the RV service business. I still can't believe how quick & easy this major issue was resolved! Thank God this happened in Canada!

Have a good one everyone! Today, we are in to Dawson Ceeek, Milepost 0!!!!!

RV riding is learning all about mechanical things you didn't even know existed

  1. Glad it turned out okay and you got it fixed. Take a picture of the gas pumps...I'm intrigued.

    1. IDK what was so different, but he had the fella come show him. I'll see if there's anything any different (other than liters vs gallons)

  2. Great news on the repairs. You'll probably see more animals being on the road early.
