Tonight is the best sighting time for the “Christmas Star”
The Winter Solstice, which takes place on Dec. 21 and marks the shortest day and longest night of the year.
It also commemorates the Great Conjunction, an event during which the two largest planets in our solar system – Jupiter and Saturn – will nearly overlap to form a "double planet”,
How rare is this occurrence? The last time a close conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn was seen by humans was 1226. A conjunction this close isn't expected to happen again until 2080
Tonight's great conjunction — also nicknamed the "Christmas Star" — marks the closest apparent encounter of Jupiter and Saturn in nearly 400 years. The two planets will be closest to each other in the sky tonight, and may be viewed as one point of light, appearing only a tenth of a degree apart. They will remain in close alignment for a few days and will be easily visible to the naked eye when looking toward the southwest just after sunset.
So, I went out to look and I saw it!
You have to really look hard, but it’s up there (the little white dot up to the left of the palm tree) And, since I have my Star Tracker app, I also took a screen shot of the night sky through the app.

Pretty cool, huh!?! And, now that Brian has tested positive for Covid means the rest of Christmas is cancelled. I guess all this “sinus” mess is the Corona 🤷🏻♀️. Who knew?
Anyway, I’m just counting down til this year ends. It’s been a rough one. At least we were able to have our family Christmas this past weekend. Melanie and her family came to town &we had a good visit. But we forgot totake a family pic! Oh well, time together is the most important.
I love my babies. Thank You, Lord forall your blessings.
