Onward to Anchorage

We left Valdez on Wednesday and  stayed over 1 night in Tolsona, then on to Black Spruce RV Park, a FamCamp at Elmendorf Fort Richardson Military Base in Anchorage.
Since most towns are relatively small in Alaska you can usually see about everything in a couple of days, then it’s time to move on. Anchorage is HUGE so we’ll be here until at least Tuesday since Mr. Charley’s eye shot is scheduled for Monday.
Wouldn’t you know it, the morning we left  Valdez look what we saw just walking on the side of the road!
I was able to get a few good shots of these 2 moose

It was a much clearer day than when we first got here

Even though the temp dropped a bit, Thompson Pass was much clearer too. It looks like the road work never ends though

Although it was less than 150 miles to Tolsona, by the time we got there & set up at the campground it was time for Happy Hour!  Let’s just say the Tolsona Wilderness RV Park lives up to it’s name. Surrounded by wilderness on 3 sides & a creek running 1 side. It was secluded, quiet & very relaxing. My Thermacells came in handy to keep those mosquitos at bay. The old wives tale about a cold winter means less bugs in the summer is total BULL!
Next morning, we hit the road towards Anchorage. It was only a little over 150 miles to the base, but we took our time and saw some beautiful sights.
Check these out!Entering into the Mat-Su Valley

I love these BIG “mail boxes” for packages to be delivered. I’ll bet the UPS folks appreciate it too (you wouldn’t believe some of these driveways)

Now you see why we take it nice & easy driving (between the road conditions and the views, you just can’t rush it )

Yep, it’s thawing out

We made it to the base safe and got set-up. It’s a pretty nice campground, we are facing some woods and there are all kinds of Moose & Bear signs throughout the base, so maybe we’ll see. I’ve got the blinds open (even though the sun doesn’t set until midnight), just in case one goes walking by.
Today, we’ll explore the base & catch up on laundry. Mr. Charley is excited because they have a golf course here!
Have a good one everybody!
