05/30/ 2023 Myrtle Beach SC

It’s Tuesday! Memorial Day 2023 Weekend is “officially” over, and it looks like it’s going to be a beautiful sunny day!

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1U5VkPjJwqLZ_y5DHrnHeuYH1iloCy-CD
How’s that for a nice sunrise!?

We had a rough night, Mr C wasn’t feeling too good. He gets nauseated every few months (who knows why, we know he’s not pregnant (LOL!))
We all get a funny tummy sometimes, I think it’s the water, even though we use bottled water for about everything here. (Beach water is super soft, good for your skin, lousy for your tummy)
Sadie’s had a funny tummy for a few nights until I realized I’ve been using water from the bathroom faucet to fill her “night night” water bowl.
I don’t think I’ve slept a whole night through in years!  But that’s OK, because it’s going to be a beautiful, sunny day today!

My #1 granddaughter texted today! I love when my babies get in touch, even if it’s a quick text. It means they’re thinking of me, and nothing means more than that!

Have a good one everybody, we sure are!

05/29/2023 Myrtle Beach SC

It’s Monday ! Memorial Day 2023. The sun has finally come out and a lot of people are heading out.
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1YRF6xMLHd5rhS49yPphGvVQbRMWLU0E5

Mr C and I usually start our day “backing in to dinner”(once we’ve had coffee). It’s our way of determining if he’s going to cook, if so, what do we need to get out of the freezer;  if not, where are we going out to? It’s also my way of finding out if I fix something for breakfast to hold me over or  wait until lunch. It’s a crazy way to start your day, but it works for us. Tonight we’re going out to Damon’s and get some ribs. (I know they’re not as good as “Double D” (Jason & Jed’s), but its about the best you can get here.
Did I mention the sun was shining today? The girls sure were enjoying rolling in the grass and checking out the world.

They are so good, they didn’t even mess with the ducks!

But….we did have to remind Cheyenne she better not chase the squirrels.

It’s race day, so I finished listening to another book.
And…..my NC granddaughter (Rhythm) texted!
Life is good. Thank You, Lord

05/28/2023 Myrtle Beach SC

It’s Sunday! It’s still rainy, but….I was reminded that even the rain is a blessing. So….I’m grateful for it and thankful I’m not stuck out in it.

Sometimes I think the Lord looks down on me and shakes His head. When I think about how fortunate I am to be able to do this full-time I’m ashamed for complaining. I guess He got tired of it too. since He let the Sun shine a bit today, after all.  It was nice to sit outside for awhile and walk the girls a little.  It didn’t last long, but it was enough to get out and stretch our legs; and long enough to let me know He heard me. (Thank You, Lord).

I’ll think twice about the beautiful flowers and landscapes we’ll see on our travels this summer and remember they wouldn’t be there if it weren’t for some rain.

And again, I thank God for our military (and their families) for the sacrifices made for our freedom.

05/27/2023 Myrtle Beach SC

It’s Saturday! We’ve stayed in our new site for one night and all it did was rain! And, to top it off we’re under a tree so the branches blowing and whacking the roof kept me up half the night.
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=18K_XlpuVhFcH9kgL5lobJ0tsdkfHYKO-

Enough grumbling! We are warm, dry, safe, clean and free! This is Memorial Day Weekend and I have no right to complain because it’s done nothing but rain since we’ve been here.

Stay safe everyone.

05/26/2023 Myrtle Beach SC

It’s Friday, which means we need to move to another site. Since it’s supposed to rain all day (again) Mr C went to see if we can move early before it starts. Luckily, no one was in it, so we could. We packed, moved, and got setup in our new site in an hour!  (8:00-9:05) Wow! That must be a new record! This site seems much smaller,  mainly because we’re under a tree (ugh!) and there’s a green power box in the back. Did I mention the rain (again). The “Weekend Warriors” have started to come in. While Mr C & the girls were napping, I heard a crash and the camper jolted! The guy next door was backing his truck in and hit the picnic table, which knocked into our slide! (Did I mention we’re under a tree!?!) He was parking under the tree and didn’t see the picnic table. Luckily, it didn’t cause any damage, but it sure scared the heck out of me! (Would you believe Mr C and the girls didn’t even know it!?!)
As much as I love the beach, I honestly hate camping down here. It’s too crazy for me. But I am thankful I get to be here. I’m especially thankful we have a fireplace, a full kitchen and bathroom along with a kingsize bed. There are people camping here in tents! (Did I mention it’s raining again?!?)
I know we need the rain, and since it’s Memorial Day Weekend, perhaps all the rain is the tears of those who lost their lives for our Freedom? Perhaps we need to be reminded how Blessed we truly are? Perhaps, I need to remember Who’s in control of it all?

Forgive my negativity. I know if we can get through the weekend, it’ll be better. So, I’ll kick back, put my earbuds in and listen to my book and play on my Kindle and be thankful we have full hookups.

05/25/2023 Myrtle Beach SC

I can’t believe this crazy weather! Yesterday we had a beautiful sunny day, today it’s overcast and “cool”.  When Mr C puts the fireplace and his “blankie” on, you know it’s gonna be a yuck day.
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1RWyfbCadSj09UAczGLPQZlOAxl47290G

The girls are happy to hang out by Daddy and I’m stretched out on the couch. We’re warm, safe and dry, binging “NYPD BLUE” and just chillin’ out.

As we watch “new neighbors” come in around us, we marvel at the difference between “Weekend Warriors” and “Full-Timers” camp. We watch as some take 3-4 tries to back-in and are still 2-3 feet away from the hookups! We have the biggest “front yard” than any of our neighbors.
Although we got an extra week here, tomorrow we have to move sites. It’s closer to the front (further from the beach) facing the opposite direction, but that’s OK. We’re still here and it’ll give us another opportunity to “be outta here in 30 minutes, 45 since we’ll drain the tanks” LOL!  We also can be setup in that time (or less).
We might be getting “old”, but these “Weekend Warriors” have nothing on us!

Have a good one everybody, we’re sure trying to.

05/24/2023 Myrtle Beach SC

Today was actually sunny, calm and very nice at Myrtle Beach, so we went to the beach!! We layed out for a while, got some good Vitamin D and SEA and just relaxed. I finished another book (I download audiobooks and generally go through one about every other day).
As I was laying out and enjoying the sights, I was once again reminded how blessed we are to be able to travel and see so much of this wonderful country we live in. (In spite of the news)
It is a blessing to be able to enjoy the fruits of our labor. For those who don’t know our story, Mr Charley and I are “travel buddy’s”; he cooks, I do the dishes and we split everything. Neither of us could do this without the other, we got a good gig! I’m so thankful to be able to do this. Thank You, Mr Charley for letting me hang with you! I know Sherry is smiling down and riding along with us.

We also had some visitors! The girls were curious, but didn’t scare them off (well, until they had enough)

05/22/2023 Myrtle Beach SC

Did I mention it’s BIKE WEEK in Myrtle Beach? Ugh! I love bikes, but hundreds of them riding around is not only loud, a lot of them are rude and not driving safe. Riding through traffic on the middle line, cutting in to hang a left without warning and just flying up and around cars. Its supposed to be through today, so hopefully it’ll calm down around here.
The weather hasn’t been the greatest, but it’s still “a week at the beach”.
Of course, you can’t beat a Myrtle Beach sunrise

The “girls” are getting back in “Full time” mode

Our dear friend, Deb came over for dinner and Mr Charley made his awesome grilled pork chops.

Mr Charleys “boys” didn’t win at the BBQ Fest, but they had a good time and got home safe.

Thank You, Lord for another day.  Have a good one everybody!

05/19/2023 On to Myrtle Beach SC

Today we head to Lakewood Campground at Myrtle Beach. Yes, it was still raining, but not too awfully bad, just enough to be thankful you have a hat on (so your glasses don’t get all splattered) and a light jacket (so you don’t get wet & cold).
We paid extra for an “early check-in” , so we left at 8:30, with ETA at noon. We got here at 11:45, checked in went right on in to our site.  Did I mention it’s “Bike Week” here. (Ugh, Thank God it’s only through the weekend!) We actually came for BBQ Fest. Mr Charleys son Jason and grandson Jed are in the cook-off. “Double-D BBQ” makes the best ribs & smoked butts EVER!
We also met up with our Oak Alley friend, Debbie. Hung out a bit at the BBQ Fest then went to dinner. I’m so bad about getting pics, that’s 3 FL friends we’ve met up with this week and I didn’t get any pics. Geez, I really need to get back in the RV travel life!
Oh well, we’ll be here all week, so I’ll do better. I sure hope the sun comes out.

05/06/2023 On to GA to see the cousins

When Mr Charley and I get off the road, then I hit the road visiting family and “couch surf”.
After catching up with my babies, I head to Clayton, in  the North Georgia mountains.
My cousin Geri, retired up there and I go hang out with her and her dog, Nugget.
She always has an ongoing list of things to do at her house. (I’ve already painted her kitchen and bathroom, and hall! ) And, her “social calendar” is always booked! We’ve been shopping; had dinner out with my cousin and his wife (her brother Rick and Liz); went to play “Music Bingo” (at Moonrise Distillery); went to a “Kentucky Derby” party at her friends house; and went to see her friends new place in Franklin, NC. Last night we went to a concert at a local venue. Caroline Aiken put on a really nice show. Today, we’re heading to Rick and Liz’s for empanadas.  Did I mention meeting up with friends for “Karaoke Night”?
There’s never a dull moment with my cousins!

This is the crew from “karaoke night” (just for the record, NO I did not sing!, but we did have a great time.

Time to head back to SC. A few more days with my babies, then Mr C and I head to Myrtle Beach!

05/05/2023 On to see my NC babies

My baby girl lives in NC with her family. It’s prom time for my youngest granddaughter, Rhythm. I can’t believe one more year and she’s off to college! She’s a well grounded, beautiful young lady and I’m so proud of her. Of course, the credit goes to my baby girl, Melanie and her husband, Bobby for raising her right. (No, I’m not prejudice, wink, wink). I had a wonderful visit with them. It’s very calming and peaceful there, unless her cat Phoebe is in a foul move. (LOL)

05/01/2023 Back to SC to see our babies

Fl “snowbird” season is over, and Mr Charley & I have landed back to our “home base” in SC. He’ll be parked at his pad at his son’s house and I’ll be “couch surfing” at my kids homes.
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1jxBPYY2VXU1rNySv6JnEBYwYvYKHH0tt
Here’s Mr Charleys family.  It’s such a special time when you can get all your babies together.
Sherry was smiling down that night.

I’ve been to see my #1 daughter, Nicole and her family. Went out to dinner with the grands, and great grands; watched my great granddaughter’s ball game (she’s good!!), babysat my sweet little great grandson (he’s a doll!!), spent time with my one and only grandson (he’s so smart!!) and last but not least, listened to my #1 granddaughter’s business plan for their new business venture. I am so proud of them all, words can’t express.
